2019-2020 Registration opens in February – Registration Night March 6, 2019

Our board has just decided our fees and schedule for 2019-2020 so we will be updating this site with all the new info shortly. Online registration will be up by February 1st.

Mark your calendar for our AGM & Registration Night:
  • March 6th
  • 7:00pm
  • Nakiska Room, Holiday Inn, 1 Silvertip Trail, Canmore
  • Childcare will be provided at the meeting.
  • The meeting will last less than an hour.
  • Registration forms can be completed online beginning in February. Just be sure to sign in at the meeting.
  • The registration fee is $45 and can be paid by credit card when you register online, or by cheque or cash at the AGM.

All families who attend Registration Night will either be placed in their class of choice, or, if there is not enough space in a given class, then places will be awarded by lottery. Children of board members are guaranteed their places.

If you are registering your child but cannot attend Registration Night, please call our office, 403-678-2538, to discuss your situation.

After Registration Night, we will place families who did not attend as space allows. We then continue to accept registrations on a rolling basis, and children will be placed or waitlisted as space allows.

We ask you to complete the online registration before Registration Night if you can, but we will have paper forms at the meeting if necessary.

Thanks! See you on March 6th.

Register for ongoing 3yo Preschool! We have a few spots open January-June

IMG_6668The four pillars of Canmore Preschool are –

  1. Fun;
  2. Socialization;
  3. Cognitive and Physical Development;
  4. Community.

Studies have shown that attending preschool has long-term positive effects on our children. Future education, relationships, careers, happiness…however you measure success, preschool provides a step up.

And yet, our classes often look like playtime! The same studies have shown that the most effective approach to early education is a mix of teacher-directed activities and child-directed exploration. Children learn through play.

SOCIALIZATIONDSCN1055

As children learn to share and progress from parallel play to cooperative play, they develop their first friendships with peers. Along the way we demonstrate and encourage children to show respect and empathy – for themselves, their peers, their teachers, and visitors to the class – for everyone!

COGNITIVE AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

Body Moves class.IMG_2461With daily opportunities for social play, arts and crafts, stories, songs, physical activity either in the gym or outside, and games that teach colours, shapes, letters, numbers, counting, and patterning, we provide all the materials your child needs to thrive, develop new skills, and move up to kindergarten with confidence.

COMMUNITYDSCN0953Sparky the Fire Dog

As a non-profit, parent-run, licensed program, founded in 1972, Canmore Preschool has deep roots in our community. We enjoy having parents in the classroom, and welcome many community visitors each year – firefighters, librarians, Alberta Parks educators, RCMP… We want our classes to reflect the diversity and strength of our community!

2018-2019 Online Registration for Canmore Preschool & PreK

Register for 2017-2018 online now – and attend AGM on March 1st!

You may now submit your registration for 2017-2018 by clicking on the orange button above and to the right.

Families who attend our AGM & Registration Night at 7pm, March 1st, at the Holiday Inn (1 Silvertip Trail, Nakiska Room) are placed in classes before those who do not attend. So please remember to come to the meeting! We will keep it short and sweet.

After the AGM, registration is first come first served, if there are still spaces available.

Before we can make class lists in March, we need to have a full board of volunteers for 2017-2018. Here are descriptions of available positions. Board members’ children are guaranteed their class placement, and it fulfills your volunteer hours, so give us a call to join the board!

Space available for 3yos! Register Now for January 2017

Spaces still available in morning classes for children with birthdays in 2013! We call theses “3yo” classes, but the age cutoff follows the calendar year the same as Canadian Rockies Public Schools, so children will begin turning 4 in January. You can register now to begin attending after winter break on January 10th.

Please click the button in the upper right to submit your forms and registration fee online.
